How to make coffee infused sugar

*Whispers* Do y’all want to know about my latest secret ingredient?   I just knew you would.  It’s coffee flavored sugar.   Yes.  Coffee + Sugar= Genius.

I promise it’s so easy.  SO easy to make.

    • Step 1.  Get a mason jar (or other airtight container)
    • Step 2.  Fill the jar  with granulated sugar.  Leave some room at the top, okay?
    • Step 3.  Pour in some whole coffee beans and close the lid.  I am a big fan of Stumptown Coffee -- just make sure you pick coffee beans that you love.
    • Step 4.  Forget about the jar of sugar.  Seriously.  For like a month. Put it in the back of your pantry.  Then maybe clean out your pantry and rediscover it.  That’s how long it should hang around.

What do you make with coffee sugar?

Literally anything that has chocolate in it.  If you’re making brownies, swap regular sugar with coffee sugar.   Thinking about a chocolate cake.  Same.  Chocolate cookies?  Maybe roll the cookies in the coffee sugar before baking for a little extra flavor and sparkle.   Are you making any version of chocolate chip cookies? Do it, y’all.  It’s going to change your life.

Hey Y'all. I'm Richelle, the baker behind Southern Shelle! I started this blog back in 2011 while I was awaiting my bar exam results and I wanted a little of piece home [South Carolina!] while we lived in the DMV area. We eventually moved back south, but that's even more reason to celebrate southern baking and plentiful White Lily Flour!
