Hi, I'm Richelle! I'm a southern girl, who left for bit to live in the big city, but found herself back in the south, the land of White Lily Flour. Praise Be! My pie crust game was suffering.
Welcome to my corner of the internet where I am constantly answering the question "can I make {Insert Delicious Thing) at home? It usually happens innocently, but occasionally, someone outright dares me to try something new.
I started this blog back in 2011 while I was driving myself insane waiting for my bar results. I knew literally nothing about blogging and just slightly more about baking.
In the early days my kitchen was barely equipped and I took all of my photos on an iPhone 4. When I say barely equipped, I mean, I once tried to wing a caramel recipe without a candy thermometer. If you're curious, it backfired immensely. I broke several spatulas and burned myself twice. What I lacked in resources, I made up for with enthusiasm about baking.
Now I own a candy thermometer and other pretty sweet gadgets. Meet the stars of my kitchen Clementine (orange) and Sylvester (silver), pictured below.
I spend my days thinking about philanthropy and how the tax law encourages sophisticated charitable giving. {Please note: I'm not your attorney, mostly because I don't know you and you don't know me, so don't make this weird, okay?}
I spend my nights and weekends checking things off my baking bucket list, and subsequently adding more things to my baking bucket list (!).
When I'm not baking, I'm going on leisure walks with my rescue puppy, June Bug, or negotiating a deal for popsicles with my daughter or convincing my husband that we should definitely go to Hawaii this year.
Welcome to Southern Shelle Bakes, I hope y'all stick around.
